Hey Carey, thanks for your comment. Coda's way to indicate that the file has changed is to put a little circle by the filename when you save it on your local disk, which is then used as an upload button. I guess it's half way there to helping you keep track of what needs updating on the server, though of course not a full sync solution, especially if you're not the only person working on the site (something we're experiencing here at Pixelshell!). Definitely something for Panic to think about in the future updates :)

I recently switched from working on a PC and one of the main reasons was Coda. I have been well impressed with it so far.

The one thing it lacks is on the synchronisation side - same for transmit as well. On Windows I had a bullet proof solution with Beyond Compare. This program shows your local and ftp files side by side, and then highlights any that don't match. It compares the files line by line to see if anything is different.

This is ideal when working on a site that involves multiple people and I would love to see it in Coda or Transmit.

But apart from that, great software!

Thanks. I don't think Windows is gonna happen knowing the "spirit" of the Mac community. Indeed, Coda embraces all those Mac values - simplicity, elegance, nice looking and easy to use interfaces - and overall Mac look and 'feel'. Porting it over to Windows will lose some of that charm given it was made for the OS X habitat.

Personally, I think it could work, and they would certainly tap into a HUGE market, and I think its safe to say they would have even more sales on the Windows platform given the market share values (Yes, the percentage share of creatives on a Mac vs PC doesn't reflect the 95% to 5% split in the overall industry, but the share of developers and designers on Windows is still huge). They don't have much to lose from doing it apart from a lot of time and effort but I'd be surprised if they took it on given the "fanatical" allegiance some developers have for the Mac — and I can understand them given I'm a Mac user myself :) though I try not to take sides religiously and rather use the software that just works best for me.

Very comprehensive overview of the Coda app, nice one!
Now I just wish they could bring it to the Windows/Linux systems too!
